Summer Garden Parties

Nothing says summer like gathering your friends for a picnic and Pimms. Below is the perfect recipe for a successful summer bash.

1. Location

Choose a place that has a lot of visual stimulation. Somewhere on water, or in a beautiful botanical garden. Ensure that there is enough seating for everyone, and if not bring large picnic blankets so people are comfortable to kick off their shoes and get comfy in the grass.

2. Guest list

Garden parties can be small and intimate or large and elegant. Design your invitations according to the guest list. If it’s just a small picnic then maybe a funny email would suffice. If it’s a birthday, graduation, or wedding choose something chic in the colours of the flowers.

3. Activities

No matter the size or occasion, there should be something for everyone to do. If the location is more private, music and dancing is always a fun choice. A maypole can be a fun and interactive way to get all of your guests up and moving. It’s a great activity for people of all ages, but if the children aren’t getting involved, try setting up a game of croquet.

4. Food

The best part about summer is that everyone is in the mood for something light. If the space is available, set out a spread of delicious summer salads. Some greens, a pasta salad, and maybe a quiche. If the party is smaller, some cut vegetables, dip, cheese, bread, and grapes can never go wrong.

5. Drinks

A picnic might call for a cooler of cold beer and white wine that can be lightened with a splash of soda water. A large, catered party should serve daytime cocktails such as white wine spritzers, Pimms, mojitos, and beer.

6. Dress

A fancy day party should be attended in white or colour. Never black, never grey, never anything dreary or boring, it is summer after all. If you’re hosting a picnic or backyard barbecue, try not to stress about dress. Guests will arrive in whatever they’re comfortable in.

7. Gift bags

Guests of a summer wedding can go home with centre-pieces, a bag of candied nuts, or perhaps a summer kit complete with lotions and blocks. Gifts aren’t really necessary for a less formal affair, but if you’d like, taking polaroid pictures of everyone throughout the day is fun and makes a great little token for them to take home.

8. In case it rains

Most high-end day events usually take place under a canopy, but really all should if there is any call for rain. The most beautiful brise-soleils and canopies are now available and can be customized to suit any style or event.

Summer is always the best time to have a party. Even if there is no occasion, summer itself is reason enough to celebrate. Chin chin!

Try a Tasty Sponge Cake for Your Summer Garden Party

One of the great traditions in England on a summer’s day is for friends to get together on a warm afternoon and socialise in the garden. A get together can often start mid-afternoon and as the conversation flows, drift on well into the evening, barbecues are, of course, popular in many family homes but these can so often be impromptu affairs. Just stick the coals on, grab a couple of beef burgers and a few sausages with a salad and the food is ready for the children to devour when they get home from school.

For those that are looking to do something that little different could be an afternoon tea party with cake, a glass of wine or Champagne with it and the tea pot on stand by for that refreshing cuppa. As for what to eat – then there has to be cucumber and salmon sandwiches, home-made egg sandwiches and some nibbles, however, what truly sets off the garden party is cake but that isn’t just ordinary cup cakes or those grabbed off the supermarket shelf, but an exceptionally tasty sponge cake. It just seems perfect for the occasion.

Amazingly, it can be so convenient to buy a great sponge cake now for those who are not confident enough to have a go at baking them. You can Buy Cake Online and then have the cakes delivered fresh to your doorstep in time for your guests arriving for afternoon tea.

A good garden party takes some preparation in making sure that you have enough seats for your guests, making the sandwiches and nibbles and even ensuring you have a selection of tea, while traditional English breakfast tea is always popular there may be guests who may wish to enjoy Darjeeling, Earl Grey or even fragrant fruit teas, so be ready for all requests.

While you are busy making sandwiches, expect a Cake Delivery with the sponge cake that will inevitably become a central talking point later in the day, and then all you have to do is what everyone who organises an outdoor summer event in England does – keep your fingers cross for fine sunny weather!

Birthday Parties Are Something That We All Look Forward

Birthday parties are something that we all look forward to from the time we are very young. When we are young it’s the cake, presents, and the party favors that get us going, but as we get older we typically just look forward to the social aspect, and hopefully some great food. You are never too old to have a great time at a birthday party, no matter what the theme may be and even who the company is.
Planning A Birthday Party
Planning a birthday party may be even better than having your own birthday parties when you were young. There are a lot of great birthday party ideas to get your inner party planner going. For younger children all you need to do is take a trip through a discount party supplies store and you’ll have more ideas than you know what to do with. Once you have an idea of what your child’s favorite characters or colors are you can buy birthday streamers, favors, and other supplies that will turn any location into a true birthday party atmosphere. The great thing is that you don’t need to break the bank to plan your child’s birthday party because you can get quality supplies at discount party supplies stores that will help save you money while providing your child with the birthday parties of his or her dreams. Birthday parties are fun for kids, but even more fun for parents to plan!
Birthday parties during the teen years might be lower key than they were when your kids were young. Paper streamers, party poppers, and party sparklers may be a thing of the past, but you can still help your child plan a great birthday party. Party stores typically carry age appropriate items for everyone that even your teen will like, so encourage your child to let you in on the party planning and then let your child enjoy his or her birthday parties while you stand back and just enjoy their happiness.
If you are planning a party for someone that is older, there is still a lot of excitement in it! Party stores usually carry party theme supplies for 30th, 40th, and 50th birthday parties where paper streamers, party poppers, and other party decorations become perfectly acceptable again. If it’s a surprise party you’ll want to buy some confetti to throw as well as birthday balloons and anything else you may associate with birthday parties. Of course, food and drink is a favorite at most birthday parties so you’ll want to have all of the birthday girl or boy’s favorite foods available for all of the guests.
Birthday parties are an excuse to cut loose and be silly no matter how old you are. Planning parties for those that you love and care about is exciting, and though it may change over the years you can still take a trip to the party store and ensure that everyone will have a great time! Remember, it doesn’t matter how old you are, birthday parties are a great reason to have a good time, celebrate life, and even get a little bit goofy!

Fun Kids Birthday Party Themes to Make Your Day

Each year, kids look forward to their birthday with anxious anticipation. In turn, parents strive to make their kids’ party dreams come true. The following birthday party theme ideas will help you create a fun and memorable party filled with entertainment, excitement, and enjoyment!

HOW TO COME UP WITH FUN KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY THEMES

To come up with a fun theme, start by thinking about your child’s favorite book, cartoon character, TV show, movie, animal or sport. You can then create the party around that particular idea.

For example, The Little Engine That Could book might become a train party. The Three Little Pigs could evolve into a farm party. Cartoon characters like Scooby Doo, Barney, and Mickey Mouse, all make wonderful theme parties. If your child loves superheroes, then Batman or Spiderman, are great options for creating a costume, action-packed theme party.

KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY THEME INVITATIONS

To make fun invitations, you’ll want to be sure to do a play on words to coincide with your theme, along with making interesting and creative invites.

For example, if you’re having a pirate party you could make your invitations look like treasure maps. Crumple brown paper bags to look like parchment paper. Draw a map leading up to your house, which would be marked with an “X.” Say something like, “Ahoy Matey! Prepare to Set Sail on the Seven Seas. All Ye Scallywags Come and Join Me. Chart Yer Course for (address) on (date). Don’t Be Late or Ya’ll Walk the Plank!

For a bowling party, you might create an invitation in the shape of a bowling pin and say something like, “Hope You Can ‘Spare’ The Time to Celebrate.”

For a Dora the Explorer party you might say something like, “Hola Amigos (boy) Amigas (girl). Join (birthday child’s name) for a fiesta! Then add your party details. RSVP to (Name & Phone) so Swiper Fox doesn’t swipe your spot.

Remember, your invites are the first impression your guests will receive as to what your party is all about. Just be creative and you’re sure to start the pre-party excitement.

KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY THEME DECORATIONS

Once you have your theme figured out, the ideas for decorations will start to flow. If you’re going to use balloons and streamers, the theme will help dictate the appropriate colors. For example, a Batman theme party would lend itself to black and yellow, whereas a tea party might be lavender, pink, mint green, and cream. A princess party calls for a royal affair sporting purple and gold.

If you’re looking to make a major statement, then you’ll want to think about turning the party room into that theme. For example, turn an entire room into an undersea adventure for Finding Nemo. Cover the ceiling with a net and fill it with blue and white balloons to create the clouds. Cover the walls with blue butcher paper for the water. Attach various fish pictures from fishing line and hang from the ceiling.

Let your creative juices flow and voila’ a themed party room will emerge.

KIDS BIRTHDAY PARTY THEME FOOD

Once again, let creativity rule. Think of your theme and see if you can come up with some ideas using a play on words. Create a sign and place by each food item to identify it’s new theme name. For example, serve peanut butter & jellyfish sandwiches and Goldfish crackers for a Finding Nemo party theme.

At a superhero party, you could serve mini super “hero sandwiches.”

Bottom Line: Use a little creativity and imagination, have fun, think outside the box, and you’ll up with some fun kids birthday party theme ideas to satisfy all of your party-goers.

Suggestions For Some Popular Party Themes

Theme parties do not always need costumes or are not limited only for children’s parties.  Others think that by having a theme party, costumes are always a must. Here are some suggestions for common theme parties:

Barbecue Party
The traditional barbeque party is one of the theme parties where you and the guests will feel great just being your casual selves. Invite guests over and make your backyard the venue.  Prepare some meat, sausages, some seafood and some vegetables to grill. Make sure that the guests feel at home in your backyard and set comfortable outdoor tables and chairs. Make sure that you grill the food according to how the guests would like their food. If they want they can even participate in the grilling.

Luau Party
A luau is also one of the favorites in theme parties.  It’s a traditional Hawaiian party. If you know how to make or where to get some roasted pig called a Pua’a Kalua, it will be a great centerpiece for the party theme. Place garlands on arriving guests and fill the venue with Hawaiian theme music. Serve Hawaiian food like lomilomi , some seafood and Hawaiian chicken dishes and rice. Guests can also come casually in their shorts and Hawaiian shirts and mumu dresses, this are the floral printed gowns or wrap- around ensembles. As a final touch, you can even ask a dance instructor or simply invite anyone who knows Hawaiian dance  to teach the guests some basic hula dance moves.

Pool Party
Another great idea for theme parties is a pool party.  This will be a hit for teenagers and adults alike. Just organize a party at your pool side and have some games in the pool. For the food any finger foods and some light meals will do great.
If the party on the other hand is more kid friendly, add some pirate theme parties for the kids.  Party favors like colored beads and chocolate coins will be appreciated by the guests.  For this to work, set the atmosphere by using decorations about the sea and ship sailing to  make the look authentic. As for the food, you will have no problem serving anything.  The theme does not influence the type of food to be served.

These are only some of the theme parties you can organize. There are a lot more and your imagination is the only limit.  A good thing to remember is that theme parties should cater to the ages of your guests.

Hosting Fantastic Garden Parties

Summer is a great time for parties, no matter what the occasion. Why not plan an outdoor garden party and take advantage of fresh air and green space? If you have spending the spring season planting flowers and vegetables, as well as pruning the landscape, why not show off all that hard work to your guests? A garden has a beautiful natural back drop, and often gardens have unique and interesting spaces. Outdoor dining during the spring, summer and fall seasons can be a great experience, one the whole family can enjoy, especially in a garden setting. Planning the perfect outdoor garden party does not have to be difficult or expensive, it just takes the proper planning.

Creating a comfortable space for your guests can be achieved, no matter the size of your yard or garden, or your budget. Tables, table covers, chairs and more can be found online, both used and new, at reduced prices. Shop the end of season clearance sales for plastic serving trays, glassware and plastic plates.

Kids especially enjoy dining outside, so consider the little ones when planning the seating. A smaller sized, lower to the ground table and shorter chairs work best for kids. Dress up the children’s table with fun decorations, party favors and treats. Be sure to have a few outdoor games planned to keep them entertained. Be sure all tables sit on level ground! You can also get creative and bring some of the indoors out and use chairs, side tables and blankets and create a living room outside.

It’s important to consider lighting, especially if you are having an evening party. Accent lighting around the landscaping and walkways will add visual interest and help set a festive mood. Large citronella candles will provide light and keep away the bugs. Hanging lanterns and glass tabletop lanterns look pretty and provide additional ambient lighting. In the fall or cooler spring evenings, a fire pit is the perfect way to warm up and provide a place for guests to gather.

Garden parties do not require a lot of decorations. The garden setting should speak for itself; however, adding a few special touches here and there is a nice idea. Hanging a few paper lanterns or light strands to the trees is a nice touch. Chairs could have balloons or paper flowers attached to them.

Showcase your garden space and plan an outdoor garden party this summer!

Women’s Ministry Garden Party Talk

Jesus loved walking and talking with Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden.  In the song, In the Garden, the words, “And He walks with me and He talks with me and He tells me I am His own” delight the soul of every Christian.  Knowing that Jesus loved growing plants should encourage us to care for the garden of our hearts.  Need help getting started?  Open your packets.

Remove the little bag of soil.  This soil represents the work of nourishment.  Just as every plant needs the right soil to grow in, so do our hearts.  Spend time, every day, with Jesus.  Study his word and contemplate his meaning for your life.  Connect with other Christians.  Share your burdens and pray for one another, keeping each other strong.  Listen to Christian music.  Find the genre that touches your soul and listen to it while you drive, while your clean and if you can, while you work.  Prepare your heart for a good experience with Christ.

Now let’s look at the package of seeds.  These beautiful flowers represent the life we should live in Christ.  We should brighten the pathways that we walk on.  Our homes should be a beautiful place of refuge and we should be the flower bringing the beauty and joy to it.  Our workplaces should reflect our character as we work with difficult situations and people.

Flowers often grow right in the middle of a stone with no visible means of support.  So, then should be bloom where it is rough and rocky.  Our invisible means of support comes straight from heaven’s door.

Driving down the highway, you will often see weeds and trash.  Then, in the middle of it all, you will spot a beautiful purple, orange, yellow or red flower.  The flower brings a little respite from the ugliness it is surrounded by.  Our worlds can also contain ugliness but that doesn’t mean we have to add to the situation.  Learn, through Christ, to rise above the world and be that lone flower in the desert.  Blossom where you are planted.

In Luke 12, Christ tells us, his disciples not to worry for our lives.  Verse twelve mentions the wild flowers glowing, how they are dressed in splendor greater than that of Solomon.  That same Christ is willing to share his spirit to help us prepare a beautiful garden in our hearts.

John 15 verse one reminds us the God, the Father is the true gardener.  Open your garden gates to him and let him come in to weed and prune.  Then be prepared to see the most beautiful garden you have ever seen.  Prepare your soil, plant your seeds and let the true Gardener care for the garden in your heart.

10 Tips for Lighting Up Your Garden Party

Garden parties on warm summer evenings are a pleasure to look forward to. Here are 10 easy ways to decorate your outdoor space with light without breaking the budget.

1) Illuminate driveways, paths, stairs, pool decks, and dark corners with paper bag lanterns made from tealights and brown paper lunch bags. Place few rocks inside each lantern as anchors.

2) Make a small investment in easy-to-install solar path lighting. There is no wiring of any kind and the light fixture can be moved around as needed (around $ 30 each).

3) Place citronella candles and tiki torches around seating areas to deter insects. Make sure they are not too close to the food, as the smell can overpower flavors.

4) Lace decorative paper Chinese lanterns, or inexpensive multi-colored, themed, or bright white sting lights through railings, patio umbrellas, and pergolas.

5) Place candles, tea-lights, votives or fabric lanterns on buffet tables and bars. Remember to keep candles in a safe container or candle holder.

6) Float candles in bird baths, pools or ponds. Floating solar lights are also available.

7) Create dance floor by hanging mini-disco ball from a tree branch and pointing a spotlight at it.

8) Use retro lava lamps and fiber-optic domes or globes for themed lighting that’s funky and fun.

9) Fill mason jars with about five centimeters of sand, then drop in a tea light for a safe but pretty light that won’t go out in a breeze. Place a row along the side of a path and on each stair.

10) Adorn flea market or thrift store chandeliers holding tea lights and hang from an overhead support or canopy.
